Outside of Seward, Alaska, one can walk alongside a glacier, learn how the glacier moves (and is rapidly retreating) and even walk up to the Harding Ice Field capping the coastal mountain range. The hike is a bit steep and rocky at the start, but winds through Fireweed and brush fields with the occasional salmon berry ripe for pickling in August.
